I am having a weird vibration over 70 mph, really starts kicking in over 80 mph and up. It has done it for as long as I have had it from when I got it a 50k on the clock stock. I can not rember if it did it with stock wheels cause I changed them the next day or so. I have eagle alloy series 058 16" wheels, with nitto terra grapplers on them 305/70/16. I just put a super lift 3" kit on the truck and that did not do a thing for it. Any ideas.
Probably the tires. The front tires may be wearing uneven just enough to notice it at higher mph or if you have to keep correcting the steering wheel at all speeds just to keep the truck driivng staright forward instead of it pulling alittle left or right.
If so then maybe your truck is out of alignment just alittle bit but it shows it self by wearing your tire tread unevenly and so when your speed gets 70 or 80 those tires are really fighting as you try to keep the front end driving straight through your steering correctness
goodluck
Make sure your hubs are not locked. Reach around the back of one of the front wheels and turn the u-joint by hand. It should be somewhat hard to get moving, but once moving be nice and smooth and not gritty or ratchety.
2x4 or 4x4, I have a 2x4 and had a vibration that would not go away at the same speed and it turned out the front wheel bearings were bad. The old ones were not pitted and no slack when I tried to wiggle the wheel but once I replaced them the vibration went away!!!
Thanks guys. I have a 4x4, I have not checked on the hubs, will check that out, I have had it alligned and balanced several times and it happens at speed when I leave from the shop.
