Road Vibration

Hey guys!

I have a '92 Bronco with 32" All-Terrains. I have had them on for a while and had no problems with them. Well lately I have noticed when I get to higher speeds (60-70mph) the Bronco vibrates a lot. Not a vibration like a tire is failing but more of a small vibration. I can feel it through the steering wheel and the pedals.

Any ideas? Someone told me to have the tires balanced, I did that and it didn't help the problem and the tire people had no ideas (as usual )

Sounds like your driveshaft is in need of a rebuild and balance, since the tires were ruled out.

Are you sure it is in the steering wheel and the pedal?

It is pretty much everywhere... The entire truck vibrates. It is small vibration but noticeable. It just worries me because I have a 600 mile drive in a few days.

When was tha last time you had your tires rotated? If you dont rotate em enough to keep even wear, you can get what is called "cupping". This will cause a small vibration noticable more at higher speeds. BUT....if you rotate them after cupping has happened, then the vibration will increase just a bit at first then decrease as the tires wear down again. Thats the reason for rotating, keeps even tire wear and avoids cupping.

Well, that definelty is a tire balance problem. Since your running 32" off-road tires, I suspect the guys at the tire shop did not put enough weights on. I used to work at a tire shop. When some newer guys (or the retards) used to balance tires, we always had problems.

THe problem is whan they balance big or off-road tires, those tires usually require a lot of weights to get them balanced. The retards always think the machine is wrong and they dont put the weights on.

If I was you..I would take it to a tire shop that sells big-off-road tires. I always had good luck with discount tire (no I did not work for them). Afterall it only costs like $10 and it should get rid of that vibration. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Well the tires were rotated and balanced about 3 wks. ago.

I think I may have found the problem but it'll take more driving tonight to be sure. The U-Joint on the rear drive shaft was bad and the drive shaft was able to move around a little. At higher speeds I am guessing that the movement was enough to vibrate the truck... We'll see though.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas!
