on another subject - did you or Chris ever try reading your water temp with the Scan Guage - then disconnect the sensor? Still trying to figure out how or why my AE is monitoring water temp with no sensor plugged in.
Ryan, where the switches are in the panel, is that just a opening or are the switches attached to the panel? I had wanted to do mine that way but couldnt find the panel without the glovebox. Where did you find yours? Also if it just an opening in the panel, how big is that opening? I'm wondering if my Carling switches would fit in there, because now that I have them I wanna keep them.
I got it off of ebay. They don't come available all that often, but they are out there for reasonable prices.
It is just an opening that the upfitters snap into. The little cubby to the right is where the trailer brake controller go on the 05-07's if equipped. I believe the opening is 2 1/2" tall and 8-9" wide. Don't quote me on it without measuring but it's gotta be close. You could easily build a panel that snaps into that place that would hold the Carlings.

Yeah, I measured my water temp with my ScanGauge and it seemed high to me. So I replaced my water pump(160K miles on the OEM), t-sat(195), OEM water temp sensor and put in an Autometer water temp gauge. The Scangauge reads 20 degrees higher than my Autometer, needless to say I don't trust the Scangauge reading.
the part number does not come up on regular inhouse system, but when I go online to Ford part number comes up as good with no sales restrictions, but with a note I order from blue diamond, a divsion of Fords. So before I go any further I'm going to call my blue diamond rep and make dam sure I can buy these.

Thank you Chris. The new version of AE was driving me a little batty a few weeks ago. It was reading 20-100 degrees higher than normal while the oil temp didn't budge. What got me more confused was the software kept showing a reading even after unplugging the coolant temp sensor. I think I'll just go your route and add a water temp gauge....Thanks for the info.....tried to rep ya but I just rep'd ya yesterday......

I've heard the ScanGauge reading is probably a dummy reading as there isn't a sensor the OBDII port could possibly use to read coolant temp. Your post just backed it up for sure. Where did you locate your coolant temp sensor?
So not to hi-jack any further, feel free to pm me. I need a reason for another gauge.
You have a couple choises, look at Brandon's third pic. Brandon mounted his there. I mounted mine in my Dieselsite coolant filter housing. Or if you are'nt using the test port in the water pump your could mount your sensor in there.
