Hi I replaced a broken parking brake cable on my 58 F100 and am having a hard time putting the brake release assembly back together. The metal 'wedge' that serves as the ratchet has a small spring and I am really unsure how these are supposed to work together. Any thoughts and insights will be greatly appreciated. It's the only thing keeping my truck from passing inspection so am eager to get this parking brake working.

Did you have any luck? I'm currently looking for the same spring I believe.
Those CD's are worth every penny!
Until you are able to get a copy of them for your self, I looked up the part # OM2788 for you, this is for the spring only.
Plug that #OM2788 into the search bar for the internet and you will find Rearcounter has ~ 66 of them waiting for you!
Oh and welcome to the FTE!
Sorry I thought you were looking for a new spring let me see if I have a picture of the assembly!

Reason: Need to pay attention!
Just did this about 3 weeks ago.
Option 1: try to align spring and pawl clip while installed in truck, then after no success after 90 min go to option 2
Option 2: took less than 10 minutes
Remove brake lever assembly from truck insert pawl spring assembly quickly, slide in lever, insert stop pin in back of lever to keep it from pulling out. Reinstall assembly and thread on cable from firewall and snap it into the groove. Then have a beer
