Well I am getting close to finish the rebuild of my F100 1974 truck, I have been playing with the rear drum brake, adjusting the "self adjusting" things...
so I tight those little adjuster and now when I press the parking brake, it release by itself and scary thing is it can take a minute or 10 secondes... Scary thing!
So I believe I could replace the entire parking brake assembly but I thought I will ask if anyone experience the same problem and if there simple fix for that!
Thanks you all
sounds like it is the pedal assembly under the dash, the teeth on the part that engages when you press the pedal down are probably stripped / wore down
Could it be the result of over tightening the parking brake cable?
When I was using the parking brake before I didn't have any problem it was holding fine until I started to adjust the drum break. When using the parking on the slop, the truck was still moving, so I thought I should adjust the drum break, so the shoes are closer to the drum. that's what I did, and since that moment the pedal is obviously much harder but release by itself!, the teeth doesn't look that bad, but I believe if it release it is surely the culprit!
