I did the search here not sure if i need this governor. This is my problem.Works on high only if i unplug the black plug going to the center of the wiper motor. If i plug the black plug in it slows down till it stops.I checked volts to the motor and its reads battery volts. Then i replaced the wiper motor still have this only works on high setting but real slow then unplug black plug runs fine in high.Does this sound like i need the expensive governor that unplugs from the wiper switch to the black box to the main wire harness?
When in Hi mode, 12 volts goes direct to the wiper motor. (Bypasses the delay module).
The majority of the problems turn out to be cold solder joints on the delay wiper module circuit board which is enclosed in a black plastic housing.
On the circuit board is a large diode mounted on a heat sink where the solder cracks which can cause only Hi speed to work. Another problem I've seen was a bad solder joint around one of the electrolytic caps which must of been for the delay timing circuit because the delay interval sometimes didn't work.
If you follow the wiring harness from the wiper switch it leads to the delay wiper module which is bolted by a small bolt to the bottom of the dash frame very close to the emergency brake release mechanism.
Well thanks for the picture diagram. This is what i did today ,removed the black governor box, removed the plastic cover.I checked for correct solder connection then decided to inspect the clear plastic covered electronic switch.i carefully removed the clear plastic cover over this switch then i sanded down both sides of the switch points.Plugged it all back into the switch and main harness and so far its working.
