Lockers are popular in the wheeling world.

Yup. I would go with a selectable locker up front, and non selectable in the rear... to save money.

Good question. the old 4x4 forum would be readying the flame thrower, but we are reformed now and will take a moment to calmly explain that locker/posi/limited slip= more traction and more traction= good

ha sense the sarcasm although I am partly serious

I can only see one benefit to open diffs....if you run open diffs for the first few months while learning to off-road, it will teach you how to drive like a badass. That is how my brother learned and he can take his little 2wheel drive, 1-tire fire pickup through stuff other guys wouldnt take their jeeps through.

Personally I like lockers and limited slip...no open diffs for me

I would estimate the cost being less than 100 dollars...

New fluids $20
RTV or gasket $5
Welding rods, 25$ max
If you pay to have somebody weld it, maybe $100
If you do it your self... $beer
So if you do it yourself, your lookin at 75 dollars, if you let some one else weld it, than your looking at 150 ish....

Lincoln lockers would also be known as welding...
