Yea... I know about landlords....
What about another running rig? Would that be acceptable, if so, then it maybe worth it to get a 87ish truck, and start from there.
I suggest doing a little bit of reading and research about your axle over on pirate. I have no expierence with it so its hard to say.
Might find a junkyard and see what a sterling will cost you, and see what the 60 will cost also.
actually like the idea of buyin a 87ish 250 if i can find one with the right axles, i also want a stepside bed and a sliding rear window and they are the same for those years so if i can find one with that too all the better, cause the mom said she might let me bring a donor truck home for a few days but not for long term. and i can hardly afford 1 rig never mind 2 haha
Rear windows are CHEAP around here. Like 20 bucks... Sliding i cant see being more than 50.
Now the side windows on the ext cabs, those are 150 a piece...
Got a trailer?
If so bring the donor truck home, rob the axle's from it, the bed windows what ever else you want, pull the motor and trans transfer case, drive shafts, then haul it off for scrap metal.
Sell off the motor, trans, transfer case drive shafts.... To get back some of the money from what you originally paid for the truck, heck you might come out even, or maybe even ahead. With OUT including the axles.
the d60 and the 10.25 sterling are stronger than the 8.8 but I think (and this is just my opinion) that the 8.8 is plenty Strong enough I have a 300 six but I know a lot of people running built v8's and big tires in there broncos and f150's and have had no problems.

Reason: why ask why
ok scrap the stepside box thing they didnt make them on the 87's and no i dont have a trailer...or a garage of my own...hell i dont even have a decent cement pad to work on but we might be moving so we will see what the new place has in store for me
EDIT: if i put a d60 on it i might as well drop a 10.25 in there to match the lug patterns right anyone know if i will be able to use the leafs and front coils off the donor and if i can will it provide any lift?
Yea if your goin 60 upfront then do a sterling in the rear, as for the lift, if any it will be minimal. As i have been told, everything is pretty much bolt up. Not sure how true it is
Yea i know alot of car guys around here use them.
Like i said, i have no expierence with them so i cant say one way or the other, but my thing was, if he is doing the 60 upfront, then might as well do the sterling in the rear, for the matching bolt patterns.
9.ford: if you dont plan on a motor swap ever, then you would be good with a d44....
If you ever plan on throwing a v8 in there and some bigger meats, might as well do the 60 swap now...
I dont know if the d44 and the 8.8 would have a common bolt pattern though, and carrying around 1 full size spare is pain enough, 2 would become a hassle quickly.
think 36's would be pushin it on a d44 and an 8.8 though? i was thinkin the 60 and 10.25 for the 3/4 ton suspension...well ill go for a snoop around the local junkyards theres only like 5 of em...1 being no more than 5 blocks from my house and MUCH closer if we move haha
No i think those were the years of the 6.7? Diesel or around the time of the 7.3idi
Turbo's didnt happen until ford turned to powerstroke to supply there diesels.... around 93 i want to say....
36" should be fine on those axles, you got a 300/6 its not going to make enuff power to break them i got a d44 and a 9" and i run 38" with a built up 400, plus my old bronco had a 460 with a ttb44 and a 9" and it had 38" too and it never broke, so you should be good with them, you could switch to a 9" there pretty strong and will bolt right up and you can still use your same wheels
ttb and 38's that never broke? my ttb is on its way out and i only got 31's haha so the ford 9" and a d44 have the same bolt patterns right which year of truck would be best to find them on, i know the local junkyard has a few of the late 80's early 90's f150s would they have those axles or at least the d44
i couldnt make it to the junkyard tonight so im gonna call around tomorow and get some prices and since either setup is good ill take the cheapest...buyin a whole truck that dont run is cheaper than buyin the front axle off it
The diesel did not get a turbo until 93 from the factory.
There are plenty of aftermarket turbos out there on the earlier motors if you can find it before someone else does.
Also 250 and 350 4x4 trucks have leaf spring front axles.
