I might be needing to pull a 90's extended cab from Austin to Houston. Would it be too much to use my 4.9 with a m5od with traveling at reasonable speeds? I can get the F250 but its back in Houston so it would be more of a trip. Just and FYI the trip is pretty hilly. Thanks for the help guys.
Anything is possible with a 300 six but i'm not sure about the reasonable speed part, I agree with 9.ford.5 7000lb combined is about all i like to do with my 1980 it has the granny 4-speed and 3.50 gears it'll grunt anything in the low gears but i don't know if you'll ever hit 5th gear.
Ok well that gives me some hope. If I could cruise in 4th and make 60mph I would be good. In 4th at 60 it should have enough rev to make it up the hills. As for pulling it would you guys suggest a tow dolly or just a tow bar?
Fellas, ya missed THE FRIKKING BRAKES. He's towing with half ton brakes and nothing on the towed vehicle. Unstoppable up the hills is good, unstoppable down is another matter.....
haha he asked if he could pull it not if he could stop it HAHAH but i gues we did overlook that...meh who need brakes anyway, besides the millions of innocent lives at stake...as long as he doesnt need to ride the brakes all the way down he should be fine just as long as they dont overheat
I wasn't too worried about the brakes, my brakes are amazing and I also have trailer brake hook ups to I was going to look for a dolly with em anyways. I didn't need to pull it after all though, so no strain on the ole girl.
