Well now that the madness of Katrina and Rita has subsided somewhat, let's try and get back to business.
There seemed to be a great deal of interest in having more get-togethers, gatherings, events, etc. Including a state get together with the support and attendance of the Paynes.
Well it's time to step up for those who are seriously interested. The first step will be arranging local/area gatherings to help people get to know each other, establish that there is interest and people will show up for such gatherings, and of course to have a good time. We've had several threads establishing who's in the larger metro areas such as Houston, DFW, Austin, San Antonio, etc.
If you're interested in having more events or a state event, I would encourage you to get involved with the others in your area and setup a get together sometime soon. If anyone feels like volunteering to help arrange a get together in their area, that would be very helpful. I'll do what I can to help any and all interested in such events.
So there you have it, the time for action is at hand. Let's see what we can do.
I would like to do a get together if there is anyone in the Abilene area. I would help organize it the best I can. The only thing is that im in Iraq right now, but I will be home sometime around the first of year. So anything after that would be great.

Classic Auto show at Rudy's BBQ in N. Austin today (Saturday). I plan to be out there with the family around 9:00-11:00am (ish) if anyone wants to meet inside the restaurant for a bit.
I can't stay long though, have to be home for the Longhorns Big-12 opener and watch UT kick the crap out of Missouri!

( I just want to see the General Lee!)
(OK, am also curious who they are going to have to portray Daisy. )
It was fun - great turnout. General Lee was pretty smooth. Daisy was a bit of a let down but it's hard to compete with Catherine Bach fantasies of my early teenage years! Best vehicle I saw out there was a 64 F1. Had the best paint by far that I saw for single stage job! 2-tone dark green with black fenders. Really smooth! I believe the owner said it was done by Ernie's in San Marcos.
PS What an ***-kicking UT handed down today! Hard to see how they can't be national title contenders now!
