hi,
ive got an 83 f-150 with a 302 out of a 93 lincoln with an eledelbrock 600 cfm carb and performer intake, accel coil with 8mm wires, hedman headers thats dumped right after the exhaust, the truck has a c-6 transmission and 3.08 rear gears and i was wonderin what kind of power i was makin
also im about to head out to pull-a-part in a couple weeks and was wonderin what all i could pull from out there that would help me i was thinkin about findon a newer exploerer and gettin the gt40p heads and i heard the exploerer rear ends came with a posi and 4.11 gears
I am thinking the Explorer rearend will not fit. The only vehicles I know of that came with 4.11's in the modern fuel crunch days are the large f250's and 350 trucks.
limited slip is an option on any truck usally, but you just have to check and see if has it or not the tag on the axle should tell ya, your best bet would be a 9inch out of an 82 or older the aftermarket parts for it are endless and its alot stronger than 8.8. I think the axle code on the cab sticker for 4.10 is D7 and H9 for 4.11 from 78-82
thnx i appreciate it but what about the heads could i use them and would notice any improvements over what i already have
If you use the GT40P heads you will have a poor header choice because of the spark plug location but if you can find a set of just GT40 heads ( not P )any standard 302 header will fit.
