Drain the pan, change external filter, and refill. You'll get about 70% of the fluid this way. I just do shorter intervals than ford recommends for a complete flush to make up for this.
I just bought a case of Mercon V and 8 quarts of syn (for front and back diff's @ $16.50/qt, and that's with autoshop discount, $22.xx/qt without) with 2 bottles of friction mod for the rear diff and it ran me $233 total. Unbelievable how much EVERYTHING has gone up!!
Well, I thought it was 17 quarts total and I got 9 quarts out when I dropped the pan and changed the internal and external filters. So I guess it is a little over 50% is all. Still, I'll do this every 20k or so.
I buy mine online at k-mansparts.com best price I have found! good luck guys, oh and whaen I drained my pan and changed my external filter I have only had to add 7 quarts , and that was all 3 times I did it....
My filter and fluid change cost me about $170 for fluid and filters. The fluid was $10.45 a litre. I talked him down from $13 something a litre. Filters were I think $27 and $28 a piece. The toilet paper roll being the more expensive of the two. These are Canadian prices.
