How do you get the shifter out of a T-18?

You got the shifter boot off looking at the stick, there is a collar that holds the shifter in.
Push down HARD (it is spring loaded) and turn the collar to disengage it from the little nubs that are on both sides of the shift tower, then lift the shifter out.

That is not correct...that method applies only to the New Process transmission shift lever retainer cap (B8T7220D).

The Warner transmission shift lever retainer cap (8MTH7220) is threaded, so it screws off/on.
