Howdy Bill, just doing a drive by post. Nebraska is on here in 40 minutes, playing Iowa State. I'll be interested to see how Steve's bird hunt goes. Pheasant starts here next weekend. Have a good one!

Steve is hunting Chukar IIRC. Pheasant starts in a while here too. I am pretty sure the Lone Pine club offers other bird hunting too, including Chukar and Quail I would think. Not really sure since I cannot find a web site for them. Hard to believe in this day and age that any business would not have at least a basic web page. But if they have one they are keeping it under a bushel.
Just got back. Finally found some birds last evening. As I suspected, they were right next to town.
The Elk were, surprisingly enough, running on the DW&P land along the powerlines, and we walked up to within a couple hundred yards of a Bull and his group of 7 ladies. They didn't stick around.

From what I understand the place is kaput. The gates were open and the public has unfettered access to the clubs grounds from what I could see.
One of the guys I was hunting with said that the property is for sale.

As for my weekend, I went shopping with the wife. Not a common event. The gall-danged stores are already selling Christmas decorations. Geez man, it's October and Home Depot has their trees on display.
Hit the supermarket and bought their last bag of Mothers frosted animal cookies, plus an assortment bag with all the good ones in it.
Not a bad weekend I guess. Then this morning, I walk in my office and pick up the phone call from my wife with a low tire. She has to drive to Fontana, so I'm grateful she noticed it before leaving home. I walked right by it and didn't notice. So she's driving my truck today () and I'll be trying to plug a tire later.
