So i just swapped a C6 for my crappy E4OD. I swapped the crossmember and kick down cable. All of that stuff is fine. I even swapped the shift linkages and the indicator in the dash. My problem is that the gear shift patter and transmission dont match up. Like if i try to put it in drive that shows up on the indicator in between drive and neutral. Im guessing there is something inside of the steering column. That could be a problem though since my truck is a custom and the bronco I got the C6 out of is an Eddie Bauer and has *** the cruise control and tilt steering. Please help me out.
the is like a little wire/string in there that the steering column pulls on the indicate gear. IIRC there is an adjustment mechanism. since you went from a 4spd to 3, you are going to have one gear you never get to...
where is this adjustment mechanism. i know it was a 4 speed and now i have a 3 speed but that doesnt change the shifter or indicator in the truck. it was always P,R,N,D,2,1 and its still the same.
What year of truck? On the E4OD the pattern is close to the same as it only has OD 2 1 instead of D21. On my 91 bronco at the base of the column where the molding covers it up you can take it appart with a screwdriver an adjust the cable so that it will place the indicator in the right spot. then close up and your are done.

Exactly. When you take the column cover off you should see the outer tube of the little wire attached to the dash with a single screw thru a plastic tab. The inner wire attaches to a spud on the shift linkage. Just loosen the single screw holding the tab and by moving the outer cable very slightly you can adjust the pointer to where you want, then tighten the hold down screw.
The check engine light came on after the swap. There are many routes to cure it, one is to retain the MLPS and keep it in the correct selection so that the truck starts and runs. I do not believe there is a feed back for the selinoids on the 91 but the newer ones may have a feed back. I thought it was only in the MLPS. Another way is to swap for a non E4OD computer as appropriate for your motor, I went this route because I wanted the system to look factory as much as I could.
The programming in the computers didn't change as far as I know. The solenoid pack would have to send information to the computer to let it know that it operated.
