Hi all! I haven't been around for awhile. Moved to a different city, new job, etc! My good ol' girl is at it again. Way back when...in June I replaced the speedo....to cure the bouncy idle....it was never quite right and now....it bounces all the time. What are the odds I bought a bum speedo? could it be something else?
It bounces till I hil about 30mph....hahah...ues...mph....I bought a US speedo
Any OTHER suggestions? I've checked EVERYTHING ELSE!!
Reginasly, LOL welcome back, it's been a while. Hope your move went well.
You probably already tried this but look at the VSS on the top of the differential. It may have metal filings on it or the connector may be corroded, pins damaged or the like.
Take a look at the ABS exciter ring through the VSS hole (attached to the ring gear). If it's damaged, wobbling back and forth it will cause your speedo to bounce.....Even a slight wobble will cause it.
will crawl underneath the beast later today....working nights now...so gonna need some zzzzz who knows....but this bouncy idle is quite annoying....next one....5spd!
I misunderstood your concerns, thought you had a bouncing speedo. My Bad!
The bouncing idle should not be affected by the VSS...unless it only happens in gear. Still not sure tho?
Have you tried cleaning the FPR screen,
adjust the TRS, transmission range selector on the side of the trans.
Maybe IPR, you need to scan it, live data, Duty cycle% ect.
CPS, just a thought, not sure again. I can tell you that my truck was down on power and had a couple hiccups (tried to stall). I replaced it and WOW! what a difference in overall performance. The injectors got quieter, and the idle smoothed out....seems to have more power.
