Tranny or is something else the problem?

So since I got stuck the other day (in snow of all things) my truck has been acting kinda funny. I'm gonna try to give as much details because I have never had this happen on any vehicule of mine ever.

- Always happens when truck is relatively cold...hasn't run more than 30 minutes....driving less than 5 minutes
- Doesn't seem to be a difference between 4X4 or 4X2
- Truck is in Drive (no difference with OD on or off)
- Accelerates fine of the line...then seems to lug big time (like in an manual if you went from 1st to 4th gear)
- If i manually select 2nd....seems to be ok but of course reving faster....then put in Drive again....it's fine
- slow down again...same thing (feels like it can't find 2nd?...maybe 3rd?)
- Drive the truck for 4-5 miles.....problem seems to go away.
- Shut off truck and if it sits 2-3 hours....all starts again

Huhm...transmissions slip when they are failing right? this seems to be something else.....the mechanic did say I had bad injectors.....could it Be? I heard of the speed sensor on the rear differential?....What else....PLEASE DON'T SAY THE TRANSMISSION .....I'm DROPPING ALMOST 2K FOR INJECTORS AND GAUGES AND CHIP.....NO MORE $$$$ for repairs....I want to stop fixing and start enjoying now....10k$ in repairs so far...I could of bought a 2004 by now!

HELP please!

I would try to unplug your Exhaust Back Pressure Value. I thought my tranny was slipping too, turned out just the EBPV was sticking .There are two wires plugged in together right under the turbo . you could unplug them see if its your probolem . Only takes a minute to check . Good luck !

I thought nof that too, but it's not the same felling at all...this totally feels like if it was in the wrong gear...and the engine lugs...not slipping, just feels like its in the wrong gear

When was the last time you changed the fluid & filter in the tranny? Does it smell burnt? I thinking you got it hot when stuck, hope not tho.

Tranny was done last January about 25,000kms ago..or 15,500 miles ago....shouldn't be time to change should it?

about a month back...I noticed the speedo jump all over the place....did it a few times....over a period of a week than nothing....could the 2 be related?

check the speed sensor connection for corrosion but it sounds like the tranny is skipping gears. more than likely an electrical/sensor issue than a tranny failure item. but check that speed sensor first.

looks like the problem is a bad 4wd drive switch....the light staued on...but this time the 4low had stayed on as well....went to the dealership....the mechanic is real good there....and I don't by their parts and they are ok with it.....he figured it gave false info....played around witht the 4wd ...and when the light came off...truck ran fine...said something about torque converter....yada yada giberish....something rather....any way...said it was that switch....should be an easy fix

It's located on top of the rear differential. Remove it and clean off the debris, reinstall to see if it's working.
