Cleaning?

Can anyone give me suggestions on how to clean the 13 years of dirt and dust off of my engine? Pictures of what not to get wet or run water on would be helpful.

engine degreaser or i use wheel cleaner.... dont get the idm on the left inner fender wet and the alternator and your air filter. everything else is fair game..... cold engine as well, dont spray a hot motor. wheel acid works great, just dont let it dry on anything

simple green works too, you may have to do it twice.

I used brake cleaner to get the really nasty stuff off then on a warm engine (not hot and works better than cold engine) using hot water (hook your hose to the hot water facet for the clothes washer) and wet the engine. Then put lots of Simple green on the engine. Scrub what you can with something (brush, wash mit, small towel) then rinse with Hot water again. Repeat as needed.

Another good cleaner is Super Clean, I get it at Wal-Mart. Purple jug use 50/50 for normal cleaning and straight for real nasty stuff. Works great, biodegradeable just use rubber gloves or it will take the first two layers of hide off just ask me how I know.
