Nope, he is a pure bred ankle bitter, yorkie. His dad is the little wizzer I watched earlier this summer, he is only 4lbs. My mom's girl is the momma of the litter, she is about 10lbs.

I hope to get a big dog one day but since I am a grave yard widow, I do not want to have a big doggy door. I figure if someone can make it in the doggy door I have now, I can take them without having to get the .45 out.

Don't know about the song, but they're sort of from my era. The closest I've been to smoking is seeing someone else smoking, but it is still very difficult. The only time I am not reaching for a cigarette is when I'm sleeping. I've heard it takes up to a year for that to go away. Resolve? Hardheaded? Don't know, just had a choice. Did I want to see Xmas '08, or did I not? I've gained 8 pounds, which I guess is a plus. I spent most of my life in the 200# range and was at 147 when I quit. I lost most of that due to splitting with wife, and chemo and who knows what else. But I would be better off around 180.

[quote=Smokin';6595996] Does Iowa have any sort of "make my day" law? /quote]

To my knowledge no law exists in Iowa , CCw takes a permit that is controlled by the discretion of the county sherriff, and I have never heard of a case of a cat burgler winning a case against a home defender for " cruel and unusual punishment" in Iowa. There is an Iowa CCW group, Iowacarry.org, they have a listing of ccw friendly counties, of which most in the Iowa city/ Cedar Rapids corridor are not.

The small town cop that gave me the ticket decided to become part time and turned in his resignation as a full time cop. The city council accepted his resignation but didn't hire him as a part timer. He who laughs last........

What Leo said. In Des Moines, a Pizza Hut driver was robbed at gunpoint, pulled his handgun and shot the assailant. He was never charged but was fired by Pizza Hut for violating its policy on not carrying handguns. I would say that the Iowa City area is probably the most liberal area of the state (home to the University of Iowa) and would be against any type of gun ownership. There are some excellent gun stores in the area though, Scheels and Gander Mountain.

Thanks guys.

Randy was telling me about the carry permits, pretty interesting. He was told that Lynn County is the most liberal, and that the sheriff never gives out permits. He's pretty disappointed with that obviously, since he works in Lynn and we'd be more likely to buy a home in that area.

Curious, this all depends on the "descretion of the county sherriff", right, so, what happens if a red county gets a new sheriff who is more friendly towards CCw's? Do counties change opinions on gun ownership strictly based on the opinion of that one person?

Also, Randy and I both have a pretty vast gun collection. If we buy in Lynn, will we have any issues?

no issues with existing collections, unless class 3 firearms are in the mix. In Iowa to have a class 3 you have to have a corp to get a class 3 dealer license to support private collections of class 3 weapons. You are right that the ease of ccw can change drastically with a new sherriff( and its odd that 1 person is allowed to be god of CCW), but the key is the voters in the area would likely not elect a conservative gun rights advocate as sherriff. The strange thing is permits are valid statewide, but county of residence has to issue.

Interesting. Randy has an AK, he's going to be pretty upset about that..It'll have to stay in Nebraska I suppose. Wikipedia also says no short-barreled rifles or shotguns. So my shotgun can't come out either? I hate to say it but these bizarre gun laws could keep us from sticking around for an extended amount of time, we'd be more likely to stay for a few years and then move on, either back to NE or CO.
