Gauge placement?

I have a set of autometer gauges for my 97 F-250, a trans temp, boost, and pyro. I know the best place for the pyro sending unit is in the exaust manifold, but where is the best place for the tans temp, in the transmission pan? and lastly where is the best and easiest place to hook up my boost gauge?

If you look in this pic you can see the red rubber line that runs from the intake plenun to the map sensor on the firewall. Your hose should be black but anyhow just tee into that line for the boost gauge.

On the drivers side of the trans just above the pan near the front is a 1/8 npt plug. Remove the plug and install the sending unit.

The up-pipe at the back of the block going to the Turbo find easiest spot then drill hole carefully use grease on the bit to catch the shavings then tap slowly and also make sure to catch all metal shavings.

What's tough about putting it in the manifold? I did both the manifold and a drain plug in the D50 in less than an hour.

I agree with bluemule, the manifold is thicker than the up pipe.....you get more
threads to hold the pyro in place

I have mine in the manifold like the pic. Just take your time drilling and tapping and you will be good to go. I put some grease on the drill and tap to try to keep the metal shavings from staying in the manifold.

I agree that the manifold is better than the up pipe. The up pipe isn't thick enough to get a good hold for the threads. It would be pretty easy for the fitting to get loose and either wreck the hole or the fitting.
