Body control module?

Body control module?
so i bought a 1997 f150 from my grandpa and it has 23,114 miles on it and the domelight doesnt shut off when the truck is started and it says DOOR AJAR while driving(and all doors are shut), and it just started doing this yesterday.what could this be? I heard it may be the body conrol module. thanks alot for any help

It's a door ajar switch. The GEM runs your dome lights, not the BCM. The switch is grounded when the door is open, and the switch is open when the door is closed. Disconnect the harness with a P/LG and BK wire(remove the interior door panels and find the harness on the door latch). If the dome lights go out, thats your problem switch.

well i just sprayed the latch with wd-40 and it seems to work and they actually shut off when the truck is started!!! i am so happy now i feel bad for bitching out the alarm installer but now i have to take it back to him and have the alarm hooked back up!! thanks guys

If you sprayed WD-40 on the latch and it started working, your door ajar switch is sticking. Replace it, the lube will fix it for a while but it will eventually stick agian.
