Hi all; asking this to hopefully save some time. A misguided individual (whole 'nother story) took it upon himself to snap off my antenna while I was waiting at a red light. So...naturally, I'd like to replace it. I was looking at some photos I took of the truck while I had the front fenders off a long time ago and can't really see any way to get at it from outside the cab, so it's looking like you have to go from the inside? Is this the case? Can you get at it by taking the glovebox out? If someone else has already replaced theirs and can tell me how they ended up getting to it, it'd save me the time of taking things apart only to find out I guessed wrong. Not seeing anything in the search. Thanks guys!
Is it the stock ant.? ..., if so pop the chrome cover up and unscrew the 4 phillips screws and you can remove it from there, but I should 1st back up to unplug it from the back of radio, follow it to the passengers side beneath the dash ..free up the grommet and then you can pull the whole assembly up through the cowl. there may be a way to remove ant. wire from the base of the ant. mount but I am not certain of that, I always had the whole set up as a spare and just changed out the whole assembly. It is an easy remove and replace.
Just gingerally pry it up and you will see the 4 small phillips screws, then you can let me know if the ant. wire can just be unplugged from mount...or...not!!
tie a length of string to the wire to use as a pull when removing
