2000 Explorer Atenna Replacement

2000 Explorer Atenna Replacement
Recently at the the car wash, my dad's Explorer got its antenna ripped right off its base. My question is, what parts do you need to replace the antenna? It looks like the entire base has been messed up because a small piece of metal is still sticking out, so I guess the entire base sould be replaced...Also, for some reason, the AM stations do not come in at all, but FM comes in just fine with the antenna broken. I thought FM required the antenna and AM didn't really care? Can someone verify what's going on?
