2003 6.0l Psd
I was pulling my camper (about 8000 lbs), going uphill, not real steep or long, trans did not down shift yet, and had some backfiring noises a couple of times and black smoke out the exhaust. I was in tow mode. could a dtc of P0683 cause this problem? or what might cause this?

Hey and welcome to fte. if you scroll down abit on the home page, there is actually a nice 2003-2007 6 liter powerstroke section.
Your real problem is that you didnt get a 7.3 liter truck
