Yes Rick, its a one time deal when its cold. Tim, is what I'm describing thats happening to my trans, 'the cold shift strategy'? Can these mods help or eliminate it? Thanks, Glenn
Oh, the VB is the value body springs, I presume. Did that long time ago but when I had the trans rebuilt, the guy said I didn't need them??? I still would like to know what this ese is? Thanks again, Glenn
From you description it does sound like what you are feeling is the cold shift and the Cure not agreeing. The Cure wants to Lock the TC and the PCM doesn't so they disagree. I just spoke to TW today about my chip that is going out in the mail and he said he should be able to get rid of the cold shift strategy.
What the cold shift is: until the trans fluid reaches a certain temp (around 100 degree's) the pcm won't lock the TC to help it build heat. once the trans reaches temp the PCM will lock the TC. Its an annoying system but it doesn't hurt anything.
To stop it from happening you can turn off the OD until the trans is up to temp and it won't do it anymore. hopefully TW will just make it disappear for me but I just let it do it until then.
The ESE is the Electronic System Eliminator. The Line pressure is controlled by the PCM on our trans. The ESE gets rid of that system and make line pressure based on RPM like the pre-electronic transmissions (the ones that could hold lots of power with out lots of money!) Along with getting rid of the EPC it also included springs like you would get in a Sonnax Trilcumulator spring kit (shift kit).
Tim, thanks for posting back. I'm a little confused here, you say you ordered a ese but TW might be able to get rid of the 'cold shift strategy'. I could ask TW to reburn mine, so, would in your opinion, would I still need the ese? So, is it a electronic box and also springs to put in the VB?
I agree with rick and tim on the cold shift schedule.
Its an obs code issue. Tests have been done with changing
TFT signals to override the cold schedule but results have varied
from code to code. Something you can try also is. When the trans
is cold let it upshift to 3rd gear, then brake to a complete stop.
Some obs codes will change to the warm schedule after the
complete stop.
As tim states its unknown if the cold schedule can be overridden
by the programmer. I also believe it can be overriden. Its just
no one has set out to do so.
The install of the pump springs will allow a higher pressure from the pump.
Sounds possible your feeling the coast clutch? The tune is, coast clutch is allways engaged except while in 4th (od).

Call to order. I tried the online order a while ago and it didn't work. Called them and they oh yeah that doesn't work yet....THEN WHY IS IT THERE!!
