7.3 regulated return

I am on a budget so I have been looking for a way to do a regulated return cheap I was wondering if anybody has ever used the factory fuel bowl as the regulator and ran fuel backwards through the bowl I was thinking about running a new filter on the frame running two lines from the filter to the to unused ports on the headthen removing the inside filter and heater and the little plastic standpipe and check ball then just shim the spring on the fuel regulator I was wondering if anyone had done this I couldn't find it anywhere in the form

Yeah... thats called an FRx... available from Riffraff.
Its the best bang for the buck in regards to regulated return. Also cures deadhead issues.
Can clean up cackle, crisp up throttle response..

Ditto to what Christof said...and very economical and simple to install. Here's a link: Riffraff Diesel: Fuel Rail Crossover™
