Over the past 2 years Turbonetics has had a great deal of success with the drop-in Ford 7.3L Powerstroke bolt-on upgrade turbocharger in both journal and Ceramic Ball Bearing configurations. Turbonetics partnered with an outside supplier to develop this unique reverse rotation turbocharger but we have encountered certain performance limitations in the current aerodynamic package. As the request for higher power levels are received on a daily basis, the current design is simply not capable of supporting these requests and the decision has been made to focus on what Turbonetics does best - achieve the best forced induction performance results possible.
Turbonetics has been working on a stage 2 solution to cover the required power levels for the past year and our research and development team has completed a new stainless steel, investment cast, pedestal mounting system (TN part # 11284). This pedestal system allows for a variety of our Ceramic Ball Bearing turbochargers to be utilized, no-matter if you need 500HP from our popular HP-Series all the way up through our tractor pulling Mid-Frame series capable of delivering 900+ HP. It also a great platform to build from for those serious enthusiasts looking to convert to a compound system. This approach allows our customers to choose the appropriate turbocharger for their specific power requirements and can be upgraded to a larger unit at a later time if their performance needs go up.
With the completion and market readiness of the Ford 7.3L Stage 2 System Turbonetics will no longer produce the 11117-BB 7.3L drop-in upgrade turbocharger. Turbonetics will stand by our industry leading repair and warranty program for all current owners.

Just saw an ad in one of the Diesel performance mags for the Turbonetics; the unit looked the same as the old one but it was definitely this month's issue; I will grab a copy of the mag, if still available, and try to post here. Anyone know if this turbo is back in business for the 7.3 drop-in replacement?

There are still some available but production has ceased. No reference at all to the TN 11117-BB on the Turbonetics web site.
Thanks Kris for the post. I have that turbo and will put injectors in soon. I don't know if this is bad or not but, I will see. The question I have is, is this a bad turbo or what? I have no problems yet. What can I expect?
IMO no they are not bad turbos. I have not had any problems with my new Ball Bearing unit, that Payson now owns... Some people have had chitty luck, some love them. Just like any product out there, some like it, some hate it.
I originally was going to buy the Turbonetics, but now am looking at Garrett GTP38R with Bob's ported housing. I will probably do stage 2 SS injectors first with the addition of my 1.0 WG exh housing and then go with this turbo and DI intercooler as the funds become available.
It's discontinued for some reason. What else can I say? It appears to be a dog. Buy what you want. I wouldn't buy it, though they will stand behind the product they eliminated from inventory??
I ran into a lot of discontinued products in the car audio world. It was a real PITA, especially when it sold like nothing else and then I cant order it anymore. The company most likely moves on to bigger and better things (another niche, more sales, profit, etc.), improves on the design and gives it a new model #, or possibly just throw it out all together.
