Tonight I was randomly checking wires to find the root of my problems. Unplugged the IPR and at the connector the wire insulation was melted(not burnt) but gooey. Should this throw a CEL? What problems would this cause? My symptoms are loss of power with no CEL or engine codes. Sometimes I get surging idle(sometimes bad enough it will stall), sometimes no surge, but power loss is steady. New parts: lift pump, ICP, IPR, CPS.
That gooey insulation on the wires is caused by leaking or spilled fuel. If it gets bad enough the wires will short and the engine wont run. That may be the cause of your stalling and rough running. Clean it up and rewrap the wiring and see if it makes a difference.
Unplug your MAP sensor and take it for a spin around the block. If you get the power back then check the vacuum hose that goes from the sensor to the intake head, passenger side. Truck will CEL with that sensor disconnected but PCM will use internal programming to make best guess on BOOST.
definatly need to fix the harness. i am 99% sure its discontinued as a pigtail from ford but i also beleive that gm uses that same connector on their engines. i cant remember as its quite late.
