I was working on the 10k mod. I installed a 14.7 combo and liked the performance and decided to try a 15.6. I ran this from the grey/blue to the grey/red wire.
I pulled up to a stop light and the truck died. I got it fired back up and pulled into a gas station for some diesel fuel. After filling up I started the truck and it started surging really bad.
I shut it down and got out and pulled the mod back off because this is the only thing that I had done. Then the truck has a CEL, but is running. It's down on power now and still surges.
At idle the truck will fluctuate from 500 to 1000 rpm and while going down the road sometimes it seems that it's shutting down.
When I start the truck if I don't wait for the WTS light to go off it's really bad. If I wait then it just surges as described above. The CEL comes and goes, but I haven't gotten the code yet.
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this?
Maybe the IPR damaged, HPOP maybe?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i dont like doing the mod with the wires hooked up the way you did. when hooked up inline as i do it there are posted dyno results of 35 hp and 70 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. cut the blue and red wire and put the resistor inline

I did mine the way you did. I ended up putting together a lil box with gang switches so i could try anything from 1k-21k, my truck likes 15k the best. i can chande while driving, witch made it easy to see what combo worked the best, or i can turn it off all together ( stock mode).
