2002 Explorer 4WD Light Flashes

I own a 2002 Explorer and the 4WD Light flashes and it dosen't seem like it engages the wheel drive. Any body have an idea of the problem?
Please help I live in snow country and winter is approaching......

You are going to have to get it scanned. There will be a code that help point you in the right direction.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my 02 sport trac, but my 4wd is actually on, and stuck on 4wd low... i cant figure out how to switch it back because the switch isnt working... and i cant really drive it in 4wd low, any suggestions??

You may have a bad 4x4 module. Common problem on '02 explorer.

If it is the 4x4 module, it will cost about $200.00. Good luck

If that does work you probably just need the shift motor removed cleaned and lubed or if its bad enough just replaced with a new one. Dirt water and wear makes em tend to hang up.
