Shift Lever/Over Drive Button

Has anyone ever broke the Over Drive Button off of the shift lever? I broke mine this afternoon.

I went to work to change my oil today. Well I drain the oil and pull off the filter, I open the filter box only to find out it was the wrong one . The box was labeled correctly, but the filter was the wrong one.

I call my wife to see if she could go get me another one and bring it down to the shop, well she locked her keys in her car and was waiting for me to get home and open it for her. I finally get ahold of my daughter, she loads up the kids and get me a filter.

After a few hours I finally get it changed, everything going good. I get home, put it in park and break the Over Drive Button end off the shifter . The wires are still connected so I just taped it back on for now.

Is there an easy fix to this or do I need to replace the lever?

Any help would be appreicated.

Thanks

Kevin

Super glue it back on the lever if it still works.
I've got an aerostar that had the button ripped right off the end...wires an all. Soldered the wires together and glued the pieces back together.

Lever

I found that glue does not hold up long enough so I used electrical tape wound tightly and it has been together like that for 4 or 5 yrs.

I put the electrical tape on last night. Maybe that will hold for a while.

David's97F250HD...if you find the one you threw out let me know a price.

Maybe I'll get some gorilla glue and electrical tape it. That will probably be better thant new.

Thanks for all the replies and great suggestions.
