Broken shift lever

I have an early 99 F250 PSD 4x4 automatic and the tip of my shift lever broke off where the over-drive button is and is just now hanging by the 3 wires. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if i can just replace the end of the lever or if the whole lever itself has to be replaced?
