I hope someone can help me figure this out.
I had my 02 F-250 V-10 in the shop to get checked out, it had a miss or engine vibration around 1500 CEL is on. Dealer checked it out and the codes that came up were as follows in this order. p0174,p0306,p0307, p0316 and p0358. They said that #8 COP is failing and I should change the fuel filter and o2 sensors.
I replaced all the plugs and the #8 coil, I'm still getting the 306 and 307 codes and the 174 and 316 codes. My question is, will the lean condition code throw the missfire codes as well? The truck has 118,000 on it. Any help with this problem would be great!!!! And what do 02 sensors run on average?
Thanks, Sean
Don't replace O2s yet. Don't understand why the said to replace No.8 COP when miss is on cyls. 6&7 check inj. connectors for cyl. 6&7 to make sure thay are conected ok check for vac. leak near tose two cyl. also.
correct me if i am wrong but i thought the code p306 is cylinder 6 misfire and p307 is cylinder 7 misfire, so you changed the wrong cop. on a v10 passenger from front to rear is cylinder 1 -5 and drivers side front to rear is 6-10. then after tthe 2 new cops you would disconnect the battery to clear the codes and start over and later check to see if any new codes showed up.
Sorry # 8 was on the list as well as several plug missfires. Thats why I changed #8 and that cleared that code. I then had the same code for #6 so i changed that as well. Still have the same codes minus #8. Thanks, Sean
I changed #8 because it was the one that was bad per the dealer and that cleared that code I also changed # 6 after that code kept coming back. Will the lean bank code cause a missfire code? Thanks for the input, Sean
i had a similar problem occur to one of my friends truck and replaced a bumch of parts and could not get it to run right. I took a look at it and well he had replaced most of the parts that would cause the problem but forgot to check the MAS. I checked it and the MAS has a piece of paper a very litle one stuck on teh sensor wire. I took apart the MAs housing (air box) and very carefully took teh paper off the sensor filament. After that we put it back together and it ran great. Give it a try and this might be your problem. Good luck

I remember one guy had a wasp stuck to it, and another guy had a leaf stuck to it ... same symptoms. Can't hurt to check
Thanks guys, I took it apart and cleaned it. There was nothing really on it. But I cleaned it anyway. Did I mention that it still has a miss from 1200 through 1700? This is really irritating, it won't do it while accelerating but when it shifts and the rpm fall into that range there it is!!!! Any other Ideas? Thanks Sean
Really sounds like a vacuum leak, and if the leak is bad enough it can cause a misfire. You might pull a plug from 6 and/or 7 and see if they look to be burning lean?
Ok thanks guys, I'll try these tricks and see if that changes anything. I have not had this truck that long so I don't know when the tranny was last serviced I'll take care of that even though it seems to be shifting fine. I'm still curious about the p0316 code causing the other codes to come up or the miss at this rpm range.
