Usually when you help people in a thread or someone likes what you post, they will send you rep points. They mean nothing what so ever. You don't get a free DP-TUNER if you get 10 green boxes. Just a way of saying thank you.
I always send the person that reps me a PM to thank them for the rep. But you don't have to do that.
O.K.,
Now that I started the reps flowing, what is being a supporter all about?
I would search around, but my internet speed is very slow!
I guess if I'm a supporter, I'll get even more reps l.o.l.
no adds to read around when your here...bigger mail box. bigger sig and you can post pix..sighn up for one year ($20)get a free sticker..sighn for 3 years ($60) get a sticker and free T-shirt...and you help keep this forum active.. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/payments.php
Wait a minute....Let's take a breath here and think about what some of you are doing.....
Member #1 starts a thread about reps....wondering why he got them, and asking what they are all about.....
Members #2 and #3 chime in about reps being handed out like candy, or drivers licenses, and cracks are made about OT threads and other "B.S." topics and how THOSE people make popularity contests out of the rep system......
Members #4, and #5 and so on then start 'repping' each other for their observations and opinions, or lamenting the fact that they CAN'T rep someone for saying what they said, whereupon other members come in with 'gotcha covered, man'.....and so on , and so forth......
Question: Aren't you guys doing the very thing that you're belittling? Or complaining about? What 'help' or 'technical assistance' was given to deserve the reps given here?
Just wondering.
p.s. I could give a damn why people give or receive reps.....That's their own personal business. There's too many damned reasons WHY people give them, that to try to 'codify' a set of rules for giving them out would be an exercize in futility.
MAN, this sure went to hell, I lodged off and got back here this morning and . I know I have a join date with lots of reps. What do I need to do APOLOGIES? I don't post in the other forums where they tell jokes, and talk about politics. Maybe someone can post a list of how many reps you can get per year. I see people with join dates 2002 with 20 post. But sense they have been posting for 6 years, should they have 10 green boxes? Look at the join dates of so many people here, 2007.

I just don't know.
I was going to stay out of this one but you said what I was thinking Rick. The only othe forum that I post in is the NE Chapter, and that isn't all that often. Sometimes reps are given for help or support that happens "behind the scene". I personally don't care about the green boxes. If I have a question I know who, for the most part, will be able to answer it. The best part of this forum is the way that we all get along. I have more people here that I consider friends than what I have here at home. That rieght there should show you the caliber of people that are here on this forum!!
Being one of the members that started repping on this post, I guess I should say that no one told me that I had to only give reps out to people that post solid technical advice. If that were the only reason to rep someone, I would probably still be working on my second tic tac, which would still be ok with me. The 7.3 forum has always been slow in passing out greenies and on the rare occasion we did venture to the other forums and saw folks with limited post and a whole row of tic tacs made me wonder just how smart these folks were. I know that some of the most helpful people around hang out on this forum and have a short row of greenies, not because they are not technically inclined, helpful, or well versed on the 7.3 engine or Superduty truck, but because me and the others here just didn't exercise their option to rep someone when we could. I now chose to rep as often as I see a post I like, when I see a good response to a newbie with a question, or a member that thats more than expected time to look something up, explain a simple process or for any other reason I see fit. So take that for what it's worth, probably nothing, but I will still rep those that I can, when I can and for what ever reason I choose.
