If you don't have your own winch and even if you do, make sure you have enough tow straps to get yourself out.
On same subject, make sure tow straps are in good enough shape or the proper strenght to do the job.
On our 4-wheelers, we happened upon a couple kids that were stuck in some muck, big time, and they had NOTHING with them. A friend of ours with a bad assed F350 Fx4 tried to help the kids out but he was on a pleasure ride so didn't have his wheeling ropes with him. The ones he had in the box weren't enough to reach these guys so another friend went and got a rope - holy crap - the rope looked brand new and had never been used before but, after the 1st & only attempt with the rope, it was discovered that it had been sitting for years. You could take the rope between 2 fingers and watch it disinigrate (sp). We took off laughing, our friends couldn't get them out but they did get out somehow. We know because we see it sitting several miles down the road from us in the same spot all the time now. BTW - was a Suburban....... Great offroad vehicle..............NOT
