yeah--i am sooo hopin that this is the fix. so tired of going some where --n it stopping. was thinkin of treatin her to a good wash n clean out the cab--might put her in better spirits. the truck--i was refferrin to the truck- snicker---lol --hell--it couldnt hurt!!!
The '89 modek doesn't have sensors in the bumpers.
If you just unplug that little box under the dash, jump the socket with a short length of wire. Don't cut your wire looms, that's just not a good thing to do in principle. Then you can remount and plug in another roll over box when you find one. Or not. I ran for a long time iwth mine jumped out, I inherited a parts truck that had a good one in it. Switched it out and it works fine.
ok--sounds good. i am now sure this lilbugger has been the problem all a long. it gets alil warm to the touch when ever it acts up --let it cool a lil n reset ---or tap it n reset-n it starts right up. im guessin--its defective inside. im thinkin it must work similar to the old mercury switch?--tho thru electronics. maybe weak solder or circuit inside? truck has 160,000 miles on her. made me a lil jumper wire incase she goes completely. hope to find a salvage yard soon. i hate some modern tech. geez.
yeah--i took the thingy out--made in england-??!!--n it sounds like a ball n socket rattling around inside. 134 dollars for that? i dont think so--- when i find a used one--or i just forget it n jump it--i will take it apart. bet i will realy be pissed then-huh?
. well--the last time it acted up n beat the hell outta it with small rubber mallet i use to lay flooring. well--not hard--tapped would be more correct. and i took it off n looked at it--looked like water had dripped in on it at some point. so--i cleaned the contacts n sprayed with electrical cleaner n put it back on. but--i made me a jumper wire incase i get some where n it throws a fit again. so far it has done ok. but it had drove me nuts tryin to figure out what the hey. it ran too good for it to be anything more than a simple thing. but--this the only forum that really gave me some ideas n help. i do appreciate it.
