Exclamation Need help towing

So I got a very awesome message from Dave Boley today about someone named Abby Nelson who would be willing to give me her 1956 F100 for free. Very awesome. Its just a cab and a chassis, but that is actually exactly what I was looking for, lets me build it how I want without regret. I'd also like to point out Abby is what I had already named the truck [to be], after Paully Perrette on NCIS actually... lol well I named my '67 Mustang Selene after Kate Beckinsale in a catsuit on Underworld ;P

My problem is its in Aberdeen, SD. Thats 530 miles from where I'm at. It's definitely do-able... that is if I still had my truck. (Got to love that irony huh?) Unfortunately it sorta blew up and I don't have anything that can tow but also survive that much free-way time, my best bet is my brothers 1969 Bronco, and that this is scary on the freeway at 65 without towing anything. No way we can use it, it be as logical as using a motorcycle. Asking someone to give me a lift with their truck and towing it back is pretty awkward, it's also a lot of gas... that's not to say I'm not trying it though. Renting a truck would cost me $400 I don't have, plus gas for it, even if I drove out there with someone and rented a truck on the way back, it's still very expensive.

I do feel a bit ackqward asking for this kind of help, especially since I'm still very much a newbie here, but I figure if there is a place where someone knows of someone who could help, it be here. If it's supposed to be my truck, it will work out, this is me trying to bridge the gap to awesome and starting the project off with some help. lol. If I had kudos of money to spare this would be an easy ordeal, but moving has a way of taking up all your funds.

But regardless I'd like to publicly say how awesome Dave has really been

I wish I could help you. Your predicament reminds me of an old saying..."There's no such thing as a free horse."

Man, if you lived here I'd do it for gas money and a couple of meals. I saw your post this morning and hoped someone nearby would offer up a ride there. Maybe you can post a ad on some other web sites. You could try the Ford Barn or the HAMB.

Will the person hold the truck until you get a little more financially able to pick it up? Something might come up in the next month or so, you never know.

Good luck.

lol thanks guys.

If it's supposed to work out a way will be found. I might be able to borrow a friend of a friends truck, but that's still a good $300+ worth of gas, and a 1060 miles to drive round trip... I hate borrowing things because there is a good chance, least in my experience, of breaking something along the way. And thats really not cool even if you fix it. To rent a truck would be about $600, plus gas, plus a trailer...

There is a website called u-ship----uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Vehicles or Moves ----that might help.

No..I have never used it, but they talk about it a lot on the hotrod forum I frequent.

I went 14 hours each way to get mine, but gas was cheaper 2 1/2 years ago. I did borrow a tow dolly. However, it needed a lot of work before I could leave here with it. I hate borrowing as well.
