Corroded connectors and broken wires are the most common causes of signal light failures on my truck. I've also had at least one brake light switch fail; that could account for your problem. Check the brake light switch to see if a) there is power to it, and b) if it switches on when the brakes are applied. A test light comes in handy (an extra clearance light with long leads with alligator clips) for troubleshooting stuff like this. It's easier to see than a voltmeter if you're lying on your back underneath something.

The shop manual covers most of the wiring, but you have to look in various sections to get it all, since there isn't a single-sheet schematic. I see there's some kind of circuit breaker or fuse on the light switch to protect the stop light circuit. Maybe that has failed, if you're not getting 12V to the brake switch. If it's a fuse, the contacts could just be corroded.

Hello,

I have a generic electrical wiring diagram in Power Point I will be happy to send you. You can look at a small version in my gallery at the bottom. Your wiring should be very close. If you want a larger copy, send me a PM with your real e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

Best
J!
