I got this 79 ford bronco and the tach was all wired up except for the power wire. Where is a good place to put this wire where i wont blow or burn a fuse.
You can always run it off the turn signals fuse, then the tach wouldnt have power unless the truck was running or at least the key in the run position. Or some other fuse that is only powered when the truck is running, like reverse lights, windshield wipers etc etc.
The power is for the light in the tach isnt it? Hey where does the Factory tach hookup???? Mil1ion are you out there?
On my 78 Bronco, I spliced into the power wire for the heating control lighting. That way, the tach light is only on at night when the lights are on. BTW, the 78-79's did not have factory installed tachs available. :-)
In his post it mentions POWER wire
NOT the Tach Illumination wire.
The POWER wire would have to be hooked up to a keyed power supply so it would work when the engine is running not when the lights are on.
The Tach Illumination wire would be attached to the Cluster lighting circuit.

I hooked mine up to the fuse that my radio is on and blew it so i switched it over to another fuse that only comes on with the ingintion in the Run or all the way to the left. seems to work fine.
i hooked up the power wire not the illumination wire to a power source where the radio and cb ran but the meter never moved. is there something else.
