Will a V10 get the job done towing a 38' toyhauler? Had a diesel and sold it. Still have the trailer and can get a V10 real cheap. I only tow about 2 days a month. Let me know. Thanks
It should handle it fine, that trailer probably won't get too heavy. Just keep in mind, you can run the V10 all day long in the power band over 4000 rpms, don't try to drive it like a diesel.

Anyway like biz4two said year and gear makes a difference.
The 1999 was the lowest powered V10 in the F-series trucks. In 2000 Ford introduced the "PI" heads and bumped up the HP and TQ. In 2005 they introduced the 3V(alve) engine and again HP and TQ went up.
Coming from a diesel you'll have to get use to the V10 running at higher RPMs while under load. This is normal for the engine and it's designed to handel this.
What gears does the truck have? Many V10 owners seem to think 4.30 gearing is the sweet spot for a stock truck.
It's got the TorqShift transmission and if it's got 4.10 or 4.30 gears then you'll probably be just fine towing. If it's a 5th wheel TH just be careful of too much pin weight.
