We have only had these powerful diesels the past 10 or 12 years.
Towing at the limit and towing effectively....
I believe the V-10 and Diesel can both do that. We could argue the fine points until everybody is blue in the face and never come to a solid conclusion.
I bought what I could afford and what I felt was the best option for towing heavy at the time. Was I right?? I'll let ya'll know in 300K....
What the hell did we all tow with before diesel pick-up's were available to the public? We have only had these powerfull diesels the past 10 or 12 years. Before that you had Non Turbo no power rattle boxes....Gassers have been towing since the truck was invented !!
where there toy haulers and 30'+ campers back then, no. diesels are the preferred truck for heavy hauling now, in the time we are in, not 30 years ago.

yes, preferred by me and LOTS of other diesel owners. of course I own one or else I would have no room to talk. i even owned a v10 before.
let's revisit his original question, "can a v10 handle his trailer" sure, but I recommended a diesel. and all of a sudden you v10 owners got your panties in bunch. sounds like I'm not allowed to have a different opinion

Now I might wear "panties" (I am a V10 owner after all) but I can count. You still have not given ONE reason not to buy the 2005 V10 purposed by the OP and get a diesel.
You know, one thing I would like to hear from the OP is the GVWR of his 38' toy hauler. That will pretty much end this whole debate. Everything else I've read here is pretty much useless without knowing what exactly he is towing.

Good point and cooler heads always prevail...
jmpoop: You said the truck was a Super Duty but is it a F250, F350, F450, F550?
Considering it's 16000 lbs toy hauler (7258 kg) you may be over GCWR of an F250, F350 depending on the weight of the truck, gear/stuff and people you plan on putting in it.
