V10 SD Is A Incredible Towing Machine

Just recently towed my new (to me) 5th wheel up to the Sierras 7,200 ft.The trailer weighs 11,200 loaded. It pulled the Grapevine like nothing was there. Then when i got to an even nastier grade,( Hwy 168) just pulled like a ****.I just never stopped being impressed by this truck.BTW, this is an 01, chipped with 68,000 mi on it, 4.30 gears and 35'' BFG All Terrians and 4'' lift.
PS
I did pass a couple of Duramaxs on the Grapevine that were pulling smaller trailers.
These roads i speak of are in Calif.
I will NEVER sell this truck.

Nice to hear the pulling success, especially walking past the dmax chebbies on the Grapevine. It is most satisfying!

BTW, I really like your avatar! It's been a while since I've hugged my over/under.

11k is pretty good, but we had 23k behind my dad's '03 6.0L a while back. That might be a little more than the V10 wants to pull

If you think that is impressive, you have a heart attack in a PSD with a programmer and exhaust. LOL

The heart attack actually comes when you see your fuel/maintenance bills on the PSD

Either way, it's always such a pleasure to dust off a bowtie on the Grapevine!

Why do you continually try to "one up" all the V10 owners?

It's really getting old.

Much less expensive to repair than a turbo R&R.

Coolness. I wish I could find an 08 V10 to test drive around here. For my driving habits, I sometimes think I might trade the diesel for a V10. The mileage sucks but I don't tow much and it would eliminate the EGR drama with the 6.0.

Sometimes I think its easier to find a gold nugget along the interstate than a new V10 at a dealership. Luckily where I bought mine they had two. Surprised the he!! out of me.

You could do an EGR delete on your 6.0l. Guys around here have done it to their trucks.
