I was at the Clackamas County Fair yesterday and was looking at the new Ford trucks and I asked the dealer if they sold chips and they told me yes. I asked it they voided the warranty and told me no as long as they put the chip in and make the adjustments. Anyone hear of any dealers doing this and what adjustments could they make?

Negative ghostrider. As far as i've heard, chips will void warranties. Think about it, you start messing with the program and giving more fuel and you instantly jump into a zone where you can melt pistons, burn out trannies, etc. etc.
That guy was basically trying to get a sale out of you.
Individual dealerships may choose to install and warranty non-Ford approved componants...If there is a problem caused by the componant, the dealership will have to eat the repair costs..
Repairs with the mods installed will have to be taken care of at the selling dealership...
You'd have to get something in writing from the general manager/owner..After that, you may still have a claim denied in the future..
The chips they usually offer are very mild...The adjustments they make are to keep it that way..
Well a call to the service dept and they told me they no long put chips (superchips) in 6.0's. Too many problems with check engine lites, EGR senors buring up and blown head gaskets. They will do it to 7.3, but again those are all out of warranty.

Someone I did some computer work for bought an '06 F-250 CC SB 6.0 from a dealership and they installed all banks stuff for the 6.0 on his truck; warranty in tact. He said that they said (in writing) if they (the dealer) installed it, they will warranty it and any engine problems he experiences up to 5yr/100K.
He ended up buying an '08, but what little problems he had, they warrantied it.
