pipe fitting

instead of paying $300 for an exhaust system i have decided to take a cheaper route and just use a new muffler and dump it right after the muffler.

the muffler is 14" magnaflow with 2.5" I/O. the turndown is also 2.5".

my question is, how exactly do the pipes fit together, they are both 2.5" so one does not fit over the other, they just line up perfectly. how do i make this work.

nvm i wasnt paying attention. it looks like the turndown has an expansion in the inlet designed to fit over standard 2.5" pipe. same as the muffler. i just have to cut the expansion off the turndown and it should fit fine

Just so you know, im belive that the exhaust has to dump past the cab for it to be considered legal.
