I am with a few of you guys on the fact that you cant blame the truck for an idiot owner, so it shouldn't even be a choice. Stupidity is not an accessory Ford offered with its truck, Heck it's not even Standard on 'em. That is all on the owner. Now as for stupid engineering, thats a whole other story.
Exactly. Assume proper maintainence. What's the weak link in the actual truck as a whole?
Another way to think about it...if you were given $10K and a stock 7.3 truck, and someone told you they needed a rock solid reliable truck because they were headed somewhere away from civilization for a while and couldn't have a broken down truck.
Obviously you can't 100% for sure prevent a problem, but what's the first thing you would upgrade to provide this reliability no matter what he's doing with it?
