wow, alot has been going on since i went to work today. lots of reading to catch up. at this point yuo really need a scan tool that can read live data and you need to get a live fuel pressure reading when the truck is acting up. its weird that you can go 30 seconds or 30 minutes between problems.
i really did not read this thread all to well so i dont know if you checked this.
if i was in your boots i would pull off both valve covers and check the wireing harnes's. they may look good from the top side but could be fried on the other side.
just my .02 cents.

^ dont over look this.
and from reading your Sig, it sounds like your making your own fuel. could you have made a bad batch? another thing to think about.
but id still say pull off your valve covers and check out dem der wires

Coon, which regulator do you mean? IPR? How do I pull this. I ended up pulling a oil line thinking that was it. I guess it is on the firewall side of the HPOP and under the fuel bowl?
does this scan tool give live data or will it just pull codes?
if the tach isnt moving you have wiring or a bad cps, sometimes you just get a junk one.
the reg i spoke of was the fuel regulator on top the fuel filter housing.
was the truck running and died or has it been sitting. what is the scenario fo rthis nostart?
It just pulls codes. How do I check the fuel reg.?
The truck ran for about 30 min or so and quit. Has been sitting for an hour. cranks and cranks and got jumper cables on one batt and trickle charger on the other.
Okay. truck running now and same start sequence. CPS changed. How to I go about Checking IPR? What do I have to remove and how long should it take a newbie to do?
first off, how long did it sit after it died befiore restart?
second , let it run another 30 minutes and see if it dies again.
if so then we'll check the ipr. its not too bad, first timer...maybee an hour? the trick is gettting your big hands into that little space. its just 1 connector, i 3/4 nut. then the whole back falls off of it. then a 1 1/8 wrenc(i beleive) is used to lossen the regulator and it just unscrews.
some find it easier to remove your fuel pressure regulator to get more room.
