Internet problems

I have a DSL in my house and connection is shared with 3 computers in the house.

However, I'm having some issues with connection on my laptop. It opens pages pretty quickly, but then it won't load most the of the pictures on the page and eventually it times out.

I had same issues over and over and over in the past, sometimes it gets fixed by itself and sometimes I have to restart my modem in order to work.

I don't have that problem on other 2 computers in the house, just a laptop.

Anyone know what the problem is?

More RAM!

Man cannot live without RAM. Max out the motherboard.

Life with my laptops got so much easier when I went to 2 GIGs of RAM on each!

How's the laptop connected, cable or wireless?

If wired, try swapping out the CAT5 cable. Or, switch which port the cable goes into on the router\modem. Might be a bad cable or bad port.

To determine if it's related to browser operation, can you browse your network without issues, open large files over the network (like a large Word file or a large graphic image). If that also shows issues, it's either the items listed above, or even the NIC on the laptop itself.

Good Luck.

Good point if you are using Vista. I have no problems with 512K of shared RAM on my little $400 laptop with XP. You can't play games with it but for surfing FTE & watching steaming TV shows (s video connection to the LCD) it does just fine.

Tried all that and it didn't fix the problem.

If I open a page with bunch of pictures it will open some and it won't open others (unless I keep clicking refresh). Like now when I'm typing this, half the the smileys on the right are open and other half are not.

And its only happening when I'm using Firefox. No problems at all when I'm using IE.
