Thanks guys. Back at work today . Yeah I enjoyed Iowa, It's a different kind of beauty than I am used to, maybe that's why I can appreciate it. Who knows. I think I'd be less homesick in the MV area because of the rolling hills, it's not completely flat like most of the Nebraska/Iowa area.

We ended up renting a 3 bedroom farmhouse on the Western edge of the CR area, sits on 1/2 acre. It'll definitely do fine until we get our bearings together to buy.

Kind of funny, we spent Sunday night and Monday with Randy's folks back in the Omaha, NE area. I am getting a big taste of midwestern life and ideals. Seems Randy's 90 year old grandmother is pretty upset that Randy and I are moving in together before getting married. His mom is a little stressed out about it too. She gave me "the talk" about how I should try to pressure Randy into asking me to marry him.

Everything else seems to have gone fine..except, back at home my dog freaked out and tore up my brother's suitcase and $100 pair of my sister-in-laws shoes and then spent the rest of the time I was gone hiding under the bed. good thing I stopped at the Harley store and bought them both a t-shirt. I've indentured myself to spend the next few days helping him wallpaper the inside of his camper....

Here are a few more coolish pictures from the trip..

Here's a locomotive I cruised with for a few minutes right around Sterling, CO

Here's the sunrise right around Grand Island, NE.

And in the plane yesterday, there was a big system of low lying clouds across Nebraska, and it was cool to see the blue sky and the big fluffy clouds down below. I snuck my phone out of my purse and snapped a picture.

Nice you're back safe and sound honey. I hope you don't get tired of the flatlands and the snow and wind in the winter.

Yeah I'll take part responsibility for the thread being moved. They were all claiming they could handle 2 women at once and I kinda had to argue that one, lol.

Anyways, how was your weekend Cris?

My weekend was good, washed the truck on Saturday. That is a trick now that it is bigger, almost need a extension ladder rather than the 6ft one I use. LOL. Had a few too many maragritas on Sunday to prevent me from beating some ***. All in all good weekend!!

Glad to see you back, Lisa. CR is only 4.5 hours from me, so when Smoking rolls around next year, you'll know how long the first leg of your trip is going to be.

We did, someone was lookin out for us too because we got friggin lucky.

Since the CR area got flooded, rental houses are really hard to find, usually get snapped up the second they hit the market.

Well we got tied up with this shady property management company. We found a house we liked through them, but got to the lease agreement and saw that he reserved the right to euthanize our pets at any time (WTF) and wanted a $900 non-refundable deposit for the pets, not including the regular deposit. We would've had to dig up $3,000 to get moved into this house. Randy freaked out and went bonkers when this "company" requested his bank account number and balance, and after I got him calmed down, we went and picked up a newspaper. I called on a house and met up with a local named Susan who ran her own home restoration company. She was heaven sent! She had several properties around the area and spent about 3 hours of her time (short notice!) showing us around. We ended up finding a 3 bedroom farmhouse on the edge of town on a 1/2 acre with a huge heated garage. The house still had renters in it (they are moving this weekend) but they were nice people and let us look at their house while they were still hangin out in their pajamas!

Agreed. We're going to report him to the BBB, because he also wanted to know how old we were, which as you all know, is descriminatory and very illegal. He was the kind of guy who'd sneak in while we're gone and sniff underwear, if you know what I mean.

Yep, heated garage...and like Pat says, somewhere for me to put Randy when he gets unruly. lol. Unfortunately the truck wont fit in it (7 foot doors) but, she's spent her life with me outside anyway. When we buy, we'll buy property with a barn so I have somewhere to put her.

Has anyone else noticed that Lisa is the life blood of these OT threads? To think she is getting paid at the same time and is walking away from a job like that????

Yep! This job sucks *** sometimes. I am highly underpaid for what I do here. Don't let yourself believe that I am not working while on here. Right now I am designing a furniture advertisement for a magazine, setting up about 12 business cards for print for the corporate folks at Goodwill, and getting myself prepared for another RFQ for a 10-million a year account. I just ordered 30,000 pens for Canyon Casino, discussing hats with a construction company, and making revisions on logo artwork for a redesign I did on school uniforms for one of our biggest school districts. And thats just in the past 2 hours this morning.

On the plate for today: design 6 catalog covers, going through the 50 or so requests I had in my inbox today (my real inbox. I came back to about 200 emails). I have to design a logo for an up and coming real estate company, and set their letterset. I have to quote some apparel products for one of our big oil companies...and the list continues.

I am a multi-tasker and I get really bored unless I am doing 10 things at once..which is why I come on here and talk to you guys..it breaks up the monotony sometimes.

Besides, I have a feeling my company will offer to let me work remote from Iowa. They're going to lose a brick when I tell them I am leaving.
