Half Doors

Has anybody made half doors out of factory doors .I am getting a set of factory doors and want to cut them up and make a set of half doors (helping a friend pull the cab off and get the doors for free) . What did you cap the tops with and did you add any support on the inside . What did you use for a outside or inside handle. Pics would be great .

well that depends on what you mean by half doors. Half way tall?
I think you could keep the standard handles, just make the cut off right there, use some sheet metal weld it up and paint it. Im tryin to remember who has some cut off doors...
There's a rock crawler guy around here somewhere. He did his. Fishy, i belive thats who it was.

honestly, i like white rhino's build, but the doors dont make sense to me. there isn't a place to really rest your arms, they seem easy to get into but i don't know, just not fond of them, i'd rather build some tube doors.

I had some tube doors on a Cherokee . They were nice but didn't like the way the door jamb looked with out the door being there . I am really looking to get more airflow and better visibility. So far all I will be out is the welding wire . I am wanting to make a door surround similar to a 66-77 Bronco Roadster door.

alex, resting your arm on the door while wheeling, espically rock crawling, is pretty dangerous, it looks to me like the stock arm rest is still there.

Also yes aaron (dragogt) was right, i was refering to fishmandotcom. his doors look very similar to the one in the post above. Heck go to the scrap yard and see if you can get some doors on the cheap to see what kinda design you like. Then go from there.

Already got the doors ,helping a buddy pull his cab and he is giving me the doors. They are dented and cut up on the inside already and the glass and regulators are missing. My next is what to do about the hinges .I really don't want to unbolt and bolt the new ones on all the time but that may be what I have to do. thanks for all the help . ROLLIN

I dont see away around the bolting situation, just for safety reasons, thats what i would do. Bolt them in, that way the door aint goin anywhere.

Some people drill out the stock hinges and use a pin setup. Its what I plan on doing if I ever finish the half doors I started.
