... I wish I could send Randy to your house for a while so you can teach him how this stuff is done....
Well, if he came down here he would only learn about gift-giving as it works for my wife... he's probably better off learning those nuances from you. For his sake, though, be patient with him... I'm sure he's only stressing over it because he really wants to do it right... but you probably already know that, too.
WOW! We've wandered off-topic prettty far here. Sorry folks. I think it's time for some more belly-bumping.
Speaking of belly-bumping... wouldn't that be a cool smiley addition?!

That's the natural progress of any conversation.
Well yeah Randy, he was a bachelor for 10 years so he is a little new to a lot of this stuff. He is a major perfectionist, the only problem is, he get so worried about doing something perfectly, he never does it at all..which is way worse than doing something not-so pefectly. I'm patient with him, but to be honest with you, he's lucky I don't take all that stuff too seriously.
I tell him that if he didn't have those other talents I woulda gotten rid of him a long time ago. j/k.
Anyways, Pete, I'm sure you wife would love anything you made her by hand. Gifts like that are always the best.
My truck is my daily driver (in SoCal) and I commute 60 miles a day to/from work for a total of 300 miles per week for a grand total of 15,600 miles per year (just to go to work).
(Had) 1997 F-150 SCab 5.4L 4x2: 14,500 miles / 12mpg X $3.99 a gallon = $4821.25
(Have) 2003 PSD (7.3) CC SB FX4: 14,500 miles / 16.5mpg X $4.75 a gallon = $4174.24
I save an average of almost $54/month. It may not seem much but at the end of the year I save $647 and that's just for my commuting. Add to it the block won't need to be rebuilt for another 300,000 miles, I don't have to buy spark plugs and everybody looks when I come down the street because it sounds like a garbage truck.
Just don't get me started on oil changes, intake boots, cam position sensors, ESOF or the A/C's cooling ability and I'm the happiest man in the world!
Yeah the ESOF is really starting to be a PITA for me lately. Great idea...If the d@mn things would just work right! I've replaced the seals on the passenger side twice in the last month and the d@mn thing is loosing vacuum again somewhere. Just havent took the time to check it. I hope its not the passenger side again. I've cleaned the mating surfaces up good each time. They will work fine for about a week and then crap out. I think I'll give it one more shoot and then lines are getting plugged and the heck with it. Anyways, I still wouldnt trade the for nothing!
I love the smell of a diesel firing up in the mourning. Takes me back to my childhood, grew up in a semi. I don't encourage people to buy a diesel though, the popularity only drives up the price of fuel and the vehicle. Don't have to worry about that much here in Montana, everyone has a diesel.
